This deep-colored spinel from Luc Yen in northern Vietnam is a mix of purple and violet, and the crystals contain linear hogboehmite, creating a capsule oval with a fine border.

This fascinating stone has an exquisite range of purple and violet colours that flicker depending on the light source, with a hint of blue, and when hit by a filament light it takes on a stronger reddish hue.

The entire piece is filled with hugbomite, which is made up of very fine needles folded over each other in lines, and when light hits it it sparkles whitish, and if you look closely you can see the rainbow colors.
