About GTJ

[About GemTreeJapan]

Founded in 2008, GemTreeJapan is a gemstone manufacturer and loose gem specialty store that primarily sells gemstones with its own original cuts online.

We have an office and cutting workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, a city where countless gemstones from all over the world gather. We personally visit the location to select and procure high-quality gemstones and rough stones, then apply world-class cuts to create our pieces.

The founder and representative of GTJ are Japanese, and while based in Bangkok, we maintain the detailed craftsmanship akin to a Japanese artisan's spirit, handling all stages of gemstone production ourselves, including procurement, cut design, cutting, and polishing.

Additionally, we have an office in Gunma, Japan, and from Bangkok to Gunma, and from Gunma to all our customers, we deliver world-class gemstones.

While some may feel apprehensive about purchasing gemstones online, we have created an environment where first-time buyers can shop with confidence, offering high-quality gemstones and cuts, photography that closely approximates the real item, detailed product descriptions, and comprehensive post-purchase support and service.

We pour years of accumulated skill, knowledge, and passion into every single process, conversing with each gemstone, and producing GTJ gems through a creation process that can be likened to haute couture. Please enjoy them to the fullest.

[GemTreeJapan's Goal]

GemTreeJapan has a big goal.

It is to make high-quality gemstones as close to free as possible and deliver them to many people.

The founder believes that "gemstones are created by the earth, and are essentially a free gift from the earth."

Questioning the practice of people attaching unnecessarily high prices to them, this challenge began with the desire to "bring high-quality gemstones closer to being free."

It is also an attempt to overturn the "given" that high-quality gemstones are expensive.

While this ideal is still a work in progress, GemTreeJapan is steadily moving towards its realization.

More freedom with gemstones, for more people—believing in this future, we continue our challenge.

[About Gemstone Cutting]

GemTreeJapan's cutting process does not solely pursue a single value such as beauty, precision, efficiency, or yield.

It is a creative act to "confront the stone and maximize its inherent value."

For rough stones and gemstones, each with its unique expression, we first meticulously observe their color, brilliance, inclusions, crystal structure, and even the path of light.

The cutting standard is to maximize the individuality of each stone.

Sometimes a bold cut, sometimes highlighting inclusions, sometimes prioritizing size—we converse with each stone, bringing out its charm with a precision that can truly be called haute couture.

We comprehensively assess all elements of a gemstone, such as shape, facet design, inclusions, and size, and project the optimal solution conceivable at that moment into the finished piece.

We are also dedicated to creating new cut designs. The more options we have, the better we can respond to the diverse characteristics and situations of each stone.

A cutter is not merely an artisan but an interpreter who listens to the voice of the stone. Between each step of the cutting process, we share what we perceive from the stone with the cutter, making adjustments and judgments repeatedly to complete each piece.

What we value most is expressing the inherent charm of the stone in its best form.

That is why each piece has a unique form and proportion.

One-of-a-kind, haute couture gemstones—

—that is GemTreeJapan's cut.

[About Gemstone Photography]

At GemTreeJapan, our primary focus in gemstone photography is to convey the charm of the stone as it is.

The color is based on natural light entering the room during the day, aiming to replicate the impression seen with the naked eye as closely as possible.

We avoid excessive processing, striving for customers to feel "better than the picture" when they hold the actual item.

Photography is mainly conducted by our representative, Irmo, using an iPhone 11 Pro and a macro lens. Light sources include natural light, an LED ring light, and a daylight-spectrum desk lamp, used as appropriate.

We vary the background and angle for each stone, capturing its distinctive features such as cut surfaces, inclusions, and fluorescence.

Any details that cannot be fully conveyed through photos are supplemented in the product description, so please refer to it as well.

Gemstone photography is not just a record; it's a reflection of the stone's individuality.

GemTreeJapan selects the optimal photography method for each stone, maximizing its appeal.
