The founder of GTJ has left the Bangkok office in my care for the first time since his retirement, but it seems he wanted to dig a little deeper into Vietnam, where he had visited a while ago, and he sent me some gems from there to encourage me.
GTJ started out as a corundum specialty store, but in 2024 it is returning to its roots in corundum and focusing on rubies and sapphires.
This time, we will introduce a masterpiece that the founder of GTJ, a veteran with 34 years of experience in the business, was particularly impressed by out of the countless Padparadscha sapphires he has seen.
Padparadscha, meaning lotus flower in Sanskrit, is a sapphire with a shade between pink and orange. It is famous for being very rare, and is one of the most valuable sapphires in the market.
This piece is an unheated padparadscha sapphire from Vietnam, a stunning padparadscha color that blends pink and orange, making it an extremely beautiful and adorable stone. It is a first-class product that has a slight silkiness, as is typical of Vietnamese stones, but also has a strong neon orange-pink sparkle.
It has a slight silky texture, and when photographed with LED light, the light hits it and you can see the silky purple look of Kashmir sapphire, which is very beautiful.
There was an orange inclusion in the corner, which was quite large at just under 2 carats in the BEFORE state, but it was extremely difficult to remove it without affecting the color too much and keep it at over 1 carat. However, it is a masterpiece that was created after close contact with a great master in Vietnam and many discussions with Piac-chan.
The shape is shaped by removing the inclusions from the cushion into an oval, and the crown side features a table cube cut that resembles the GTJ's original box shape, floating around the table.
There are a few bubble-shaped inclusions, but because they are transparent, they blend in with the fine sparkle of the flower cut and are completely invisible to the naked eye.
The neon-like padparadscha is said to be unique to Vietnam, and a perfectly finished one of 1 carat or more is extremely valuable.
Please enjoy this first-class item that is too beautiful, too cute, and too rare in your hands.
