This is an unheated sapphire cat's eye from Yen Bai, northern Vietnam. It's a cabochon featuring a pinkish-purple crystal with a dark color band and silk lines. When light is shone on it, a single line of light appears due to the chatoyancy effect.

While star sapphires that exhibit a 6-ray star are well-known, this piece is a rare gem that allows you to enjoy a single cat's eye.

Although it doesn't have an intense cat's eye effect, you can observe it with indoor lighting at certain angles, and when light is applied, a clear single line of light emerges.

Many cabochon gemstones have rough finishes on the back, but this is a well-finished oval cabochon with a polished, shiny surface on both sides.
