This is an unheated trapiche sapphire rough from Luc Yen, Northern Vietnam.

"Trapiche" refers to stones with six-rayed inclusions formed by foreign matter entering during the growth process of a hexagonal crystal system, and it means "gear" in Spanish.

Only the facet with the trapiche on this rough stone has been polished to highlight its presence, and when illuminated with UV light, the fluorescence makes it even clearer to see.
