From Kanchanaburi, Thailand

Pear Shape (Long Trilliant)

Cutter: Piachan

Comes with sorting (EGL simple identification report)

This piece is the only stone GTJ member Ruru acquired during a sourcing trip to the now-closed Kanchanaburi mine in Thailand.

Originally, the cut was a bit rough, but it was a beautiful gemstone with a vivid yellow at the tip and a soft yellow in contrast.

Attracted by the lovely yet powerful yellow, Ruru suggested it to GTJ representative Ilumo, who sourced it. Under the representative's supervision, Ruru was involved from design creation to completion.

The gentle blend of yellow and green with a deep, vivid yellow interspersed, and the way it subtly changes expression depending on the angle, is captivating.

It's a vibrant piece, like a flower garden, with a yellow and green party-like effect that looks as if the color is divided into three layers.

The body color is a bright, vivid yellow with a soft green tint, but due to internal reflections caused by the shape and cut, it appears to be divided into three colors: deep yellow from the tip, a gentle, fresh-leaf-like greenish-yellow, and a cocktail of yellow and green.

The sparkle also shows a mix of yellow and green, making the party-like color appear even more brilliant.

This piece features a meticulous cut on a pear shape that leans towards a long trilliant, with slightly rounded sides becoming linear.

Before cutting, there was an inclusion at the bottom of the pear shape, some color void in the middle, and slightly uneven facet surfaces, resulting in a subdued sparkle.

By removing the inclusion, refining the facet surfaces to enhance the brilliance, and retaining as much weight as possible, this shape and cut were achieved.

The shape, which feels heavier at the bottom than a regular pear shape, allows color to accumulate richly in the pavilion, significantly increasing the party-like effect of the color.

The refined, meticulous cut multiplied the brilliance and highlighted the transparency, eliminating the void in the center and allowing the beautiful color to be fully enjoyed.

The removal of the original inclusion resulted in a beautiful piece with no noticeable inclusions, giving the color transparency and making the clean, vivid hue even more striking.

The transition from the deep yellow at the tip to greenish-yellow and the party-like effect are major attractions, and the exquisite interplay of yellow and green gives this piece a distinct Kanchanaburi origin feel.
