This unheated particolor sapphire is from Kanchanaburi, a sapphire mining town in western Thailand.
I acquired this stone in Chanthaburi, a gem town in eastern Thailand.
Sometimes, old jewelry stores have sapphires that they sourced from Kanchanaburi long ago. I've had my eye on this for several years, and finally, I was able to acquire it.
Kanchanaburi's mines are already closed, so the overall quantity is decreasing. Among those, particolor stones, which are even becoming rare locally, have a bright yellow crystal with a pool of blue color at the bottom.
The appearance changes significantly with the angle, making it a magical stone where the color changes from the crown to the pavilion.
You can fully enjoy the typical Kanchanaburi colors, with not only the sparkle of blue and yellow but also the appearance of green where the two colors mix.
To preserve the color, I utilized the original standard step-cut oval shape and refined it to the maximum extent.
This is a beautiful crystal with excellent transparency and no noticeable inclusions, but the presence of delicate silk inclusions floating within is a high point, indicating its unheated nature.
When exposed to UV light, the yellow part fluoresces orange.
Please take this valuable and relatively rare unheated stone from Kanchanaburi, boasting a size approaching 2ct and beautiful sparkle due to its excellent proportions.
