Octagon / Cube cut
Piachan's work
¥270,000
This is a parti-colored sphalerite with an orange color band running through a highly transparent golden crystal.
It is finished in a refined octagon shape, with a cube cut applied to the crown side to create a three-dimensional effect.
With a low Mohs hardness of 3 to 4, and perfect cleavage in six directions, sphalerite is called "the most difficult stone to polish in the world."
This particular specimen was also extremely difficult to polish, and once lay dormant, unfinished.
However, stimulated by the polishing specialists Puchan and Tenchan, who successfully finished the difficult green zircon, Piachan re-challenged and polished this stone with all his soul.
Not only has the technique improved, but above all, the spirit of the cutter is reflected in the finished product.
From its impressive size of over 8 carats, the intense fire unique to sphalerite runs through it.
Although there are fine linear inclusions, it boasts high transparency and emits a strong sparkle.
The crown's facet arrangement and step cut minimize translucency, revealing a unique expression with a three-dimensional, bicolor-like color band.
This is a masterpiece that combines the perfection of the cut, the interest of the colors, and the presence.
Please enjoy this powerful large sphalerite, filled with the spirit and skill of GTJ main cutter Piachan.
