This ruby emits a vivid red and pink sparkle from its rich body color, a blend of purple, orange, and red, characteristic of Thai rubies.
It is a single stone finished in a long oval shape with intricate flower cuts.
Most rubies on the market have imperfect cuts due to the difficulty of cutting and their high value.
The precise cut, a level rarely found in the market, is a signature stone of GemTreeJapan, a company dedicated to corundum.
This stone was recut into a classic, conventional flower cut, preserving the high-quality crystal while ensuring symmetry.
With a well-balanced proportion and sufficient thickness, a deep red accumulates along the crystal's outline.
Vibrant cherry-red sparkles are scattered over this red,
and a purplish-pink sparkle flows through the center, giving the sparkle a neon-like quality due to the crystal's excellent coloration.
On one side near the girdle of the pavilion,
there is a silk-like inclusion that sparkles in rainbow colors along the surface,
but it is barely visible with a loupe and does not affect the sparkle at all.
This is a charming feature that adds to the stone's uniqueness.
Aside from that, it is a beautiful crystal with no prominent inclusions, boasting excellent transparency despite its depth.
Its fluorescence under UV light is relatively strong, fluorescing a reddish-pink.
When viewed with a loupe, the saturation seen with the naked eye appears slightly calmer, which is another characteristic of Thai rubies.
Perhaps due to the influence of chromium, the unique neon color tends to recede when photos or videos are taken.
This is similar to how the green coloration from chromium in emeralds and chrome tourmalines is also difficult to capture.
The videos and photos provided show the color as seen with the naked eye indoors under natural daylight.
Thai rubies generally have a high iron content, resulting in a dark, somewhat subdued tone,
and many crystals produced are what is known as "beef blood" in color.
Therefore, historically, they have not been highly rated in terms of origin.
However, among the high-quality Thai rubies produced under limited conditions, some exhibit excellent color and high crystal quality comparable to those from other origins.
In recent years, due to the depletion of good quality rough stones after mine closures and a decrease in circulated goods, their rarity has increased year by year, and they tend to fetch high prices in the market.
At GemTreeJapan, we carefully select only rubies that meet our standards, and after applying the optimal cut to maximize the characteristics of each crystal, we introduce them to you.
Generally, as the quality of gemstones increases, differences in impression due to origin become less apparent, but
this ruby is very appealing, as it allows you to enjoy both its excellent stone quality and the deep coloration characteristic of Thai rubies.
Among Thai rubies, at 0.6ct, it is a moderately valuable size, making it a well-rounded stone of high overall standard.
