This is a parti-color sapphire from Kanchanaburi, a sapphire mining town in western Thailand.
This particular stone was acquired in Chanthaburi, a gem town in eastern Thailand.
Old, established jewelry stores sometimes have sapphires from Kanchanaburi that they acquired a long time ago. I had my eye on this one for several years and was finally able to acquire it this time.
With no cloudiness and a delicate nuanced color, along with a texture that seems to be subtly adorned with silk inclusions, this light-colored stone is instantly eye-catching.
It features a vivid light yellow with blue color bands, and a pale green can be seen depending on the angle. The brilliance also reveals these mixed colors.
The blue color bands are delicate lines, as if drawn with a brush, and when viewed through a loupe, they appear to overlap in a lattice pattern.
The color bands have a texture that suggests very slight silk inclusions, and depending on the angle, a smooth, lustrous sparkle appears.
The elegant oval shape is given a step cut, creating a sharp and dynamic sparkle.
It is a beautiful crystal with no noticeable inclusions, and its soft colors, characteristic of Kanchanaburi, stand out.
Please enjoy this valuable 1ct-plus parti-color stone, which has become difficult to find even in its now-closed native mines.
