This parti-color sapphire from Sri Lanka was sourced by Lulu, a GTJ member, in Chanthaburi, a gem hub in eastern Thailand.

It is a stone with a colorless base, featuring striking pools of blue, and its appeal lies in the transparency and color contrast.

Originally, the stone had a slight irregularity at the culet. To correct this, the rounded side was carefully shaved down to create a pear shape with overall balanced proportions.

By focusing on a step cut, we aimed to preserve as much of the blue near the tip and culet as possible, resulting in a refined appearance that accentuates the color pooling.

As a result of respecting the color distribution, the pavilion side has an asymmetrical proportion, which is precisely where the cutter's judgment and skill are tested.

This is a highly finished piece, maintaining over 1 carat while achieving a high level of perfection in color, shape, and balance.

The blue at the tip reflects off the rounded side, showing various expressions depending on the angle.

A few white striations of inclusions are faintly visible on the pavilion side, but they are at a level undetectable to the naked eye and do not detract from its beauty or brilliance.

A very faint yellow nuance can be felt in the colorless zone, and when observed with a loupe, the blue can be seen subtly spreading like a cloud on the crown side, making it highly engaging to observe.

This stone embodies GTJ's essence, featuring a cut that maximizes its appeal without compromising the raw stone's unique characteristics.
