This yellow sapphire was sourced in Kanchanaburi, a sapphire mining town in western Thailand, from Big Boss Madam, who was in charge of the Kanchanaburi mines that closed about 10 years ago.
The light yellow background is made up of several orange-yellow color pools that look like they were painted with a flat brush, and the color is reflected to create beautiful orange color pools at the tip of the pear shape and on the rounded end of the piece.
In order to avoid removing as much color as possible, we have applied careful step cuts to maximize the color.
The staff cut has thin proportions and is relatively easy to remove, but the yellow color pools are easy to see.
To give it a more traditional look than the BEFORE shape, we made the outline slightly rounder.
Both the orange in the pooled areas and the yellow that spreads throughout the piece are beautiful, and the pooled colors give it a light, party-like feel that's also nice.
When exposed to UV light it emits a slight red fluorescence.
The concentrated color and strong orange color are reminiscent of Sri Lanka, and the combination with the soft yellow that is typical of the local Kanchanaburi region is very beautiful.
Yellow sapphire is also becoming increasingly rare as production volumes decrease, so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to get your hands on one.
