This is a spinel from Mahenge, Tanzania, with a beautiful neon color that is somewhere between orange and pink. The 2ct rough stone is a fancy oval shape with a Narika cut, which means watch in Thai, on the pavilion side. It is a work of that calibre.

It was originally finished as a round stone, but as some large inclusions remained, it was changed to an oval shape, which resulted in a perfect finish with no inclusions at all.

I didn't expect the orange color to be so strong in the rough stone stage, but despite being a rare color, it is a beautiful, highly saturated crystal with the neon feel unique to mahenge.
