Good morning, this is Nori, staff and collector.
This is one stone from the series "Pieces I sourced, finished into a work by CEO Irume." I, Nori, will explain.
Product Description
This is a standard baguette-shaped grandidierite with a step cut on the pavilion.
The color saturation is excellent, a pleasant greenish-blue.
It's not dark, but it's not light either; it's a loose stone with extremely high transparency and color.
This is a rare stone that shines more metallically than a step cut, so there's no need to say much more.
We particularly focused on transparency, and as it's a rare stone, we hope you can appreciate its "standard yet highly perfected" quality.
Please hold this piece, a challenge to gem species combining existing techniques with GemTreeJapan's new series "Nori's Gem," something that cannot be easily produced, and feel its value and brilliance.
Anecdote about sourcing and mineralogy
Originally, I sourced it as a piece just under 0.5ct.
It was very clean except for a large 1mm inclusion very close to the culet, and it was quite beautiful for grandidierite.
I thought, "If I just cut away this part, I can create a highly transparent grandidierite, which is already rare."
GemTreeJapan used to handle grandidierite, but we haven't offered it much recently.
This time, Nori has selected "gem-quality grandidierite" after a long time.
The main goal this time is to introduce rare stones created by GemTreeJapan.
Even 0.1-0.2ct of highly transparent rare stone would be expensive, so I am satisfied that it finished as a large stone of nearly 0.4ct.
To be honest, grandidierite itself is often seen. It's available everywhere. But that's assuming no quality requirements.
We are finally delivering "gem-quality grandidierite," which was featured in an American business magazine in 2015 as "the third most expensive gemstone in the world."
