This blue sapphire was sourced from Kanchanaburi, a sapphire mining town in western Thailand, and is a stone that combines cornflower color and greenish light blue sparkle.

The sapphire mine in Kanchanaburi closed 10 years ago, so there is no new production and they are becoming rarer every day.

Kanchanaburi sapphires are generally produced in small quantities, with only 1-3% being high quality, and beautiful blue sapphires are traded at high prices.

This sapphire is a stone that allows you to enjoy particolors of cornflower blue and Greenish light blue, which can also be called Kanchanaburi blue, due to the yellow contained in the base color that is unique to Kanchanaburi.

I had seen many blue sapphires locally, but it was rare to find one that had this kind of party feel, so I fell in love at first sight and bought it.

It has the sleepy (silky) and grayish feel that is unique to Kanchanaburi, which is due to the silk inclusions that spread throughout the tea.

You hardly notice it when you look at it normally, but when light is shone on it, the silk inclusions pop out depending on the angle, showing off the unique Kanchanaburi quality and the fascinating nature of sapphires.

When we received the stone, it had a very neat cut, but there was a color band and a buildup of color near the culet, so we asked Piacchan to finish it into the perfect step cut while preserving the original cut, and the result was a perfect cut.
