This is an unheated sapphire from Kanchanaburi, a sapphire mining town in western Thailand, purchased from Big Boss Madam, who was in charge of the Kanchanaburi mines that closed about 10 years ago.

This beautiful yellowish orange crystal has a light sherry feel and is finished into a fancy round Narika cut, which means watch in Thai.

In its original pear shape, it had a pinkish look that could be described as a Padparadscha sapphire, but it was too thin and lacked luster, so the inclusions were removed and it was made smaller and rounder until it was thicker, which changed the color and gave it a stronger gold look.

In Kanchanaburi, blue is overwhelmingly more common, followed by yellow, purple is very rare, and I have only seen a few pieces of pinkish gold, making it a rare and rare color.

According to the appraisal agency, it was probably from East Africa, and certainly the color was such that I would normally judge it to be from Madagascar, but as the source was a mine owner, it was hard to imagine that they would go out of their way to procure sapphires from another country, and in fact the only sapphires in the store were local.

Also, it is a color that I have seen several times in the past when purchasing Kanchanaburi sapphires, and there are also yellow sapphires that contain this color, so I think it is safe to say that it is from Kanchanaburi.

Since it was not thick to begin with, the finished product is also thin, but in order to maximize light reflection, we applied a sharp Narika cut to prevent any noticeable hollowness.

When you look at it in person, it resembles the second hand of a clock or a moving pie chart, and depending on the angle, the luster unique to the thin Narika cut comes out and the feeling of looseness is kept to a minimum.

When exposed to UV light it glows a strong pink.

The gold look is stronger when it's in the case, but I recommend taking it out of the case on a sunny day and looking at it, as I think the pinkish look will be even more beautiful.

Please enjoy the beauty of this rare color, which is unique among Kanchanaburi pearls, in your own hands.

This item is currently in our Bangkok office, so it will take about 1-2 weeks from order to delivery. Thank you for your understanding.

*The sorting does not include any opinion from the appraisal period regarding the origin, but based on past purchasing experience, I think it is almost certain that the stone is from Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

However, identifying the place of origin is an extremely difficult field, and it is sometimes impossible to determine the appraisal period. Also, the place of origin is ultimately determined by each individual's opinion, so we would appreciate your understanding on this point.
