At first glance, this spinel appears completely black, but when you hold it up to the light or look at it with tweezers, you will see that it is a unique loose stone with a rich purple hue.

This is a spinel over 6 carats with a classic pear shape and flower cut, and can be said to be a stone that can be enjoyed by connoisseurs.

When you look at it in the loose case, it is dark but you can feel a faint sparkle from the depths. When you shine a penlight on the spinel, you can feel a strong reddish hue, and when you shine a strong light through it, you can see the inclusions hidden inside the spinel.

The inclusions are not linear like rutile, but appear to be a collection of fine linear inclusions. They are thought to be a mineral called hoegbomite, which is rare even in Vietnamese gemstones.
