This is a parti-color sapphire from Kanchanaburi, a sapphire mining town in western Thailand.
This particular stone was acquired in Chanthaburi, a gem-producing city in eastern Thailand.
Old gem stores sometimes have sapphires from Kanchanaburi that have been stored since long ago, and I had my eye on this one for several years, finally managing to acquire it this time.
The nuanced green hue, created by a delicate blend of yellow and blue, is refreshing and lovely.
The bright yellow with blue color bands results in an overall bright mint green.
Three colors appear one after another with every tilt, and the sparkle twinkles with pale blue and yellow.
The fancy oval, which frames the outline, is adorned with a flower cut, adding elegance to the piece with its sparkle.
When viewed with a loupe, there are small granular inclusions, but they are located at the edge and blend in with the sparkle, so they are not noticeable and do not detract from the beauty of the piece.
The thickness is somewhat modest, but the intricate flower cut minimizes light leakage, resulting in a sparkling finish.
