This piece is made from Amazonite sourced from Vietnam. It belongs to the microcline feldspar group, which is part of the feldspar family. Gem-quality specimens are extremely rare, and most contain numerous inclusions. Although its Mohs hardness is 6–6.5, its perfect cleavage in two directions makes it very difficult to cut, making it a rare stone not often found in the market.
The name Amazonite is said to have originated when a jeweler brought a stone from the Amazon River to the market. However, it is not actually found in the Amazon River. It is reportedly produced in Peru, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, China, the United States, and Vietnam.
Having acquired some rough stones during a recent trip to Vietnam, we crafted this piece, adding beauty to its rarity with GTJ's cutting technique.
Many stones crumbled during cutting, leading to a slight reduction in thickness and considerable difficulty, but we ultimately achieved a fancy pear shape with a finely outlined contour.
The refreshing mint green hue is beautiful, and the crystal is quite clear overall, with line-shaped inclusions running diagonally that add a nice touch.
Please enjoy this rare Amazonite, crafted with an exceptional cut from carefully selected crystals.
