This is a sapphire from Kanchanaburi that I purchased in Kanchanaburi, western Thailand, when I visited in April 2024.
This precious stone of over 1 carat was from the Bo Proi sapphire mine in Kanchanaburi, a mine that has since closed and production has almost ceased. It is a specimen-like gem that allows you to enjoy the silky, slightly grayish and greenish deep, beautiful blue that is typical of Kanchanaburi.
There is also a hint of purple in the blue, so you can fully enjoy the blue, purple, and yellow (greenish blue) colors that make up Kanchanaburi sapphire.
Although there are a few pale white inclusions, nothing that is particularly noticeable to the naked eye, and there is a color band typical of sapphire. Although they are difficult to find, when light hits them at a certain angle, silver and slightly iridescent silk inclusions appear across the entire table.
Silk is not only on the table but is hiding everywhere, so it's quite a sight to see.
Considering the rarity of 1 carat or more from Kanchanaburi, where beautiful crystals are said to make up only 1% of the total, we asked GTJ main cutter Piacchan to trim the stone, taking advantage of the quality of the cut of the original stone and minimizing the weight.
It is precisely because it is a simple and super standard cut that you will be able to feel the quality and difference of the cut.
Please enjoy the beautiful Kanchanaburi blue sapphire, a collector's item, in your hands.
