Column #003 GemTreeJapan's Two Principles

GemTreeJapan: Two Core Principles

Cherishing each gemstone and maximizing its beauty

Over 33 years in the jewelry industry, GemTreeJapan's founder created countless gemstones.

Even before many people paid close attention to a gemstone's "cut quality," he consistently believed that "the cut is key for gemstones" and continued to pursue polishing techniques.

This belief of the founder is rooted in a clear philosophy:

If I were born a gemstone, it would be sad to live my life unpolished.

Gemstones should have their maximum beauty brought out.

This philosophy, which sees life in gemstones, drove his commitment to "cuts that do not diminish the value of the material and maximize its beauty."

Applying high-quality cuts not only brings joy to delivering beautiful creations to end-users.

The founder saw it as an act that contributes to improving quality throughout the jewelry industry and enhances the industry's value and credibility.

Having a deep understanding of the wholesale world, he became convinced with the times that "the era of directly reaching customers is coming," and founded GemTreeJapan in 2008.

Based on online sales, and precisely because it is a sales model where customers cannot physically touch the products, he thoroughly pursued "cut quality" to ensure peace of mind.

Now that the founder has retired, I, Ilumo, the current representative, have inherited his vision, polishing techniques, and philosophy.

We are also working on developing unique cut designs and strengthening quality standards, and GemTreeJapan continues to evolve.

⸻"Making gemstones as close to free as possible"

GemTreeJapan has another core principle.

That is "to make high-quality gemstones as close to free as possible."

While this principle may seem unconventional at first glance, it holds a clear value system from the founder.

Gemstones are a gift of nature created by the Earth over a long period, and inherently, they were "given to humans freely."

The founder questioned why people would arbitrarily place high prices on these gemstones.

Of course, high-quality gemstones with beautiful cuts are expensive in the market—this is common knowledge in the industry.

However, the founder deliberately questioned this norm and continued to challenge it.

Behind this is his experience of growing up in a modest family and not being able to freely obtain what he desired, leading to the belief that "the love for gemstones has nothing to do with wealth."

From this belief, the founder undertook various "attempts to get closer to free" through auctions, grab bags, giveaways, the Cinderella Project, and more.

While our products reach you through a long process of sourcing, creation, and listing,

the founder's principles continue to live on within GemTreeJapan, and we will continue our efforts to allow many more people to experience the beauty and wonder of gemstones.

"Maximizing the beauty of gemstones"

"Making gemstones as close to free as possible"

Please enjoy the unique gemstone experience that only GemTreeJapan can offer, born from these two seemingly contradictory principles.
