Column #001 あたりまえじゃない輝きを、あたりまえじゃない日常に。

Column #001 Unconventional brilliance for an unconventional everyday.

The founder of GemTreeJapan, who retired after 33 years in the business, had long questioned the sight of gemstones being shaped "for human convenience" and sent into the world in an incomplete state.

Gemstones are, by nature, miraculous crystals nurtured by the earth over an unimaginably long time.

That is why the founder listened intently to the stones, sought the shape that would allow each stone to shine brightest, and diligently continued to apply the best possible cut, regardless of what anyone said.

In 2019, I, Ilmo, the representative of GemTreeJapan, met the founder and stepped into the world of gemstones, a completely different world for me.

Selection, procurement, appraisal, conception, cutting, inspection, photography, text creation.

The journey of a single stone becoming a "work of art" in the world was long, intricate, and filled with deep love.

Initially, I thought all these processes were "normal."

However, through encounters with people who loved GemTreeJapan's creations, I gradually learned that it was by no means "normal."

Sensitive customers and skilled jewelers, in particular, intuitively sensed the difference,

and told me that GemTreeJapan's dedication was "not ordinary, but precious."

GemTreeJapan's gemstones are not mere "products."

They are works of art born from the harmonious interaction of earth-born stones and human craftsmanship.

Everyone involved approaches their work with the sincerity of an artisan, and the love for the stones embedded in every detail creates a "not ordinary" brilliance.

Life, too, may be the same.

Waking up in the morning.

Laughing with someone.

The continuation of today.

May the brilliance of GemTreeJapan's creations serve as a reminder that what we thought was "normal" is, in fact, something "not normal" and precious.

Unordinary brilliance for an unordinary everyday.
