This is an unheated sapphire from Burma, which the founder of GTJ purchased the rough stone in Sri Lanka, had it preformed locally, and then had it finished by GTJ's main cutter Piach-chan in Bangkok.

This cute stone has a cornflower-like color and is veiled with silk inclusions, giving it a silky impression that is characteristic of unheated stones.

There are clear areas on the diagonal, and because the silk is layered, the transparency can be seen depending on the angle, and the darker parts of the clear areas are a vivid cornflower blue color.

There are layered and small inclusions, but as this is a fascinating piece, these do not seem to be major flaws.
