This is a rich pinkish purple, unheated star sapphire from Vietnam, a long cushion shape with a reversible cut, finished with a cabochon side that reveals a star when light is shone on it, and a faceted side.It was created by the founder of GTJ and the previous master purchasing craftsman.

The star that appears on the cabochon surface appears in the center as a slightly fuzzy, spreading star when light is shone on it from the side.

The faceted surface has a simple cut with a table, and the silky luster stands out beautifully against the flat facets.

The backs of star sapphires are often chipped or uneven, and this one shows the master's attention to detail, overturning the concept of star sapphires.

When exposed to UV light, it fluoresces red.
