We introduce a rare cornflower blue sapphire from Kanchanaburi, known as a sapphire producing region in western Thailand, but whose mines are now closed.

This sapphire was sourced in Chanthaburi, a gem city in eastern Thailand.

I occasionally found Kanchanaburi-origin stones among the stock of long-standing dealers and had been keeping an eye on this particular piece for several years.

I finally managed to acquire this stone, which I had always wanted to stock.

Its even coloration with a slightly sleepy quality, characteristic of Kanchanaburi sapphires, is striking.The color is a deeply nuanced blend of cornflower blue with hints of purple, infused with a greenish Kanchanaburi blue.

A single transparent layered inclusion running vertically is visible inside the crystal,but it's a minor inclusion that is barely visible even with a loupe and only slightly alters its appearance from certain angles.

It does not detract from the overall clarity or aesthetic appeal, and the crystal quality is very high.

Based on a well-proportioned taper shape, an additional step was added to the crown side of the original cut.

The stepped facet arrangement enhances the depth of color and subtle sparkle, resulting in a refined finish.

This is a masterpiece that I couldn't find even after numerous visits to Kanchanaburi, a place I consider my origin, since I started sourcing.

It retains the distinctive characteristics of its origin while possessing the high quality of a sapphire.
