This cobalt spinel from Luc Yen in northern Vietnam has been spectroscopically tested for iron and cobalt, and its deep bodycolor exudes sharp violet and greenish blue flashes.

Finished as a fancy oval with a contoured outline, the delicate sparkle of the flower cut gives off a flicker of fire.

It is a beautiful crystal with no noticeable inclusions and excellent transparency, making it a highly finished piece.

The proportions are not thick, but the sense of openness is kept to a minimum, and the deep base color appears bright, which is actually quite nice.
