This is a Vietnamese spinel that was purchased by the GTJ founder from a mine in northern Vietnam, cut locally in Vietnam, and finally completed in the Bangkok office.

It was originally finished in the cushion cut that is popular locally, but the inclusions were removed and it was finished in a bold baguette-shaped cat's cradle cut.

The overlapping scissor facets characteristic of the Cat's Cradle cut create a beautiful piece that simultaneously exudes deep, vivid colors and fire, with a blend of orange and purple typical of Vietnamese stones.

The finishing touches in Vietnam were done by a cutter who had a good reputation locally, but as this was the first time we had asked them to cut the stone, we didn't make any requests and they just cut it while preserving the size.Although the stone did not reach GemTree quality this time, we are looking forward to seeing how future finishing touches in Vietnam will go.
