Table Cube Cut

Piacchan's work

This sphalerite has a party-like feel, combining sunny yellow with orange and green sparkles.

It is notoriously difficult to cut because it is a soft stone that easily breaks, but despite this difficulty, this masterpiece features a complex cut design with a table cube cut in which a box shape floats around the GTJ original cut table, and the delicate flower cuts give it a beautiful sparkle that looks like it is in full bloom.

The stone itself is highly transparent, but there are fine inclusions on the pavilion side, so the creator, Piacchan, had a lot of trouble finishing it.

The founder of GTJ checked the work and told Piacchan to have Boy-chan, a cutter who specializes in polishing, take a look at it. Piacchan, swallowing his pride as the main cutter and enduring the shame, asked Boy-chan for his opinion.

When Boy saw it, he couldn't hide his amazement and praised Piac, saying it was amazing that such a stone could be cut to this extent.

Apparently, Piacchan was on the verge of tears, but tried desperately to appear calm.

It's a very moving behind-the-scenes story, but there's actually a story behind it.

When the master first checked the stone he thought it was already complete, but he asked Piac to have Boy take a look at it anyway, to test whether Piac would be able to set aside his pride for the sake of his own evolution, and also to see what Boy had to say when he saw the work to gauge his abilities.

This is a memorable experience that taught me that deep insight and precise guidance are necessary to lead cutters in the right direction and bring them together.

As mentioned, there are a few small bumps on the pavilion side, but they are not very noticeable to the naked eye, and this is an outstanding piece that brings out the maximum potential of the stone, so we hope you will enjoy its beauty in your hands.
