This is a 3.481ct sencha-colored tourmaline.
This is a masterpiece that was painstakingly crafted by three cutters from GemTreeJapan.
The clean, refreshing green is beautiful, and the double cut of the cube and narika accentuates the sparkle.
If it were made into jewelry, it would surely shine even more.
Tourmaline comes in over 100 different colors, making it one of the most diverse gemstones in the world.
That's why it has the nickname "Chameleon Gem."
The name is doubly apt considering that Madagascar, a major source of tourmaline, is home to more than half of the world's chameleon species.
One monarch who was particularly fascinated by tourmaline was the last female emperor of China, Empress Dowager Cixi.
Empress Dowager Cixi had a great love for tourmaline, especially pink tourmaline and rubellite, and it is said that she used her ample financial means to purchase a ton of tourmaline from the tourmaline mines in San Diego, California.
