This spinel is just like the strawberry jam with chunky pulp that is sold at roadside stations and other places and is made with plenty of seasonal strawberries!
Spinel is generally distributed widely in contact metamorphic rocks such as crystalline limestone-marble, regional metamorphic rocks such as gneiss, igneous rocks, etc. Gem-quality rough stones are mostly mined from alluvial deposits, and the main sources are Myanmar, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka in Southeast Asia, Tajikistan and Afghanistan in Central Asia, and Tanzania and Madagascar in East Africa.
Spinel is generally not heat treated, but it will fade if treated at high temperatures. It has a Mohs hardness (8) second only to ruby, has very good toughness, and is stable and resistant to the effects of light and chemicals.
