This is a cobalt spinel containing iron sourced from Vietnam. It is a nearly half-carat piece with a beautiful depth from the iron and blue from the cobalt.

This spinel has a highly accurate oval shape with a simple diamond-cut style Narika cut, and the fine needle-like sparkle that sparkles from deep within the stone is extremely beautiful.

The Narika cut, which means "clock," is one of GemTree Japan's popular cuts, as the shine of the thin radiating facets on the pavilion resembles clock hands.

Cobalt spinel is a mineral classified as having many inclusions, but the piece we are introducing here is extremely transparent, has depth of color, and is in a class that can be said to have no noticeable inclusions at all.
