This is a classic blue sapphire from Myanmar, and as it is specifically indicated, it was created from a rare rough stone from the [old Burmese period]. It features colorless layers and a sharp oval with a beautiful blue gradation.
Sapphires are made from the same mineral corundum as rubies, and are the same except for the important element of color; any corundum other than red is called sapphire.
Corundum, a crystalline aluminum oxide, is mined primarily from placer deposits and, more rarely, from bedrock deposits just below the earth's surface.
It is also an "arochromatic" gemstone, meaning its color is determined by trace elements such as iron and titanium.
