It is permitted to contain iron and cobalt.

This cobalt spinel was mined in Luc Yen in northern Vietnam, and is an interesting and beautiful stone with a deep grayish violet base color that sparkles violet in indoor lighting or LED light, and greenish blue in natural light.

It has an elegant cut with finely outlined edges, and the linear sparkle of the step cut is beautifully enhanced by the slight scissor-like cut on the crown.

When exposed to filament light, the violet background emerges and there is also a sense of colour change, and when exposed to LED light during the day the violet is enhanced in addition to the greenish blue of natural light.

There are some linear inclusions but otherwise the stone is very clean.
